Integrasi Ilmu-Ilmu Sosial dan IPS Dalam Perspektif Islam: Telaah Epistemologi Dan Sumber Pengetahuan

Social sciences play a crucial role in understanding human social dynamics and serve as the foundation of Social Studies (IPS) education. However, the development of modern social sciences, largely shaped by Western epistemological paradigms, tends to be secular and value-neutral, resulting in the separation of knowledge from moral and spiritual dimensions. This condition influences Social Studies learning, which often prioritizes cognitive and factual aspects over character formation. This study aims to examine the integration of social sciences and Social Studies from an Islamic perspective through an epistemological framework grounded in revelation, reason, and empirical reality. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with a library research method, this study analyzes classical and contemporary sources, including the Qur’an, Hadith, Islamic scholarship, and literature on social sciences and Social Studies education. The findings reveal that Islamic epistemology offers a holistic and integrative framework in which revelation provides moral values, reason functions as an analytical tool, and social reality becomes the object of empirical inquiry. This integration aligns with the goals of national education as mandated in Article 31 paragraph (3) of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and has the potential to foster intellectual development, social awareness, and noble character among students.
